Who Is Your One?

'Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.'  Matthew 28:19-20

What does this verse say to you?  Do you really take it as the command it was intended to be?  If I'm not mistaken, it tells me to go into all the nations.  I'm here to tell you my 'nation' is this little corner of SC in which I reside.  I don't think He literately meant for every single one of us to go into a different nation and lead others to Him.  For most of us, our 'nations' are our own backyards.

I'm taking a liberty and using the question our bible study leader used Monday night, "Who is your one?"  If I am a child of Christ, then I have been called to go and make diciples.  It's not a suggestion, but a command.  But I'm not called to hop on a plane and go across the ocean.  Each of us has one person that we come in contact with everyday or at least once a week who needs to know Him.  We need to find this one person and reach out to them.

We don't have to invite them to church right away.  Get to know them.  Ask them questions.  Then ask them what you can pray about for them.  You'll be surprised at what their response to that question may be.  Exchange email addresses (most people will give those out quicker than a phone number) and follow up.  Look for ministry opportunities.  They are everywhere around us.  People are hurting and afraid.  They need the hope and peace that only Jesus Christ can offer.  They won't know if we don't tell them...

Thank you for this reminder. We have opportunities every day to share the love of Christ with that one person He has placed in our path. I don't want to miss it!

Great reminder. We come in contact with people every day. Work, school, resturants, gas stations, stores, neighbors, many places. We can reach one person a day. I need to work harder on this.

Going and making disciples is a command. Where you go or how long you stay is the "call." Really great thinking material for the day! You are right though, we sometimes think too globally when our local mission field is in our neighborhoods and communities!:)

You're right, our mission field closer than we think. We come in contact with lost people almost every day. We need to keep our eyes open and our feet ready to spread the gospel. Great reminder

God definitely set me straight on this one. I would love to get on that plane... but, my mission field IS my backyard and I consider it a training field for whatever He has planned ahead. Sometimes all we can do is minister in love... most of the time it's all He's asking us to do. We want to see the end result... the save... but, we need to remember that we are often just a step in the process. Great post, blessings!

Excellent post Allison. One of the most important responsibilities we have as emissaries of Our Lord is to bring His Light and Message to others. May we all seize the opportunities to share Him with the people we meet each day.

Have a Blessed Day!

So true! He brings opportunities our way each day. It's up to us to be His hands and feet.
Great post - be blessed :)

Just by listening with intent and showing you care displays a Christian attitude. I ask the Holy Spirit to open my mouth when I should speak and keep it closed when I shouldn't. I also ask for the right words in the right way at the right time... He takes us all on different walks, the important thing is to be open to do what He leads. Blessings to you. xx
