Service with a Smile

'But be sure to fear the LORD and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you.'  1 Samuel 12:24

I think of faithful service as a waitress who is waiting on the ultimate customer.  He's known to be a big tipper, but he expects devoted service from the waitress when he is in her section.  As her biggest customer, he demands that she focus only on Him.  In turn, as a reward for her excellent service, he will leave her with an exorbitant tip when he leaves.

This relationship is like ours with our Master.  He has given us the greatest tip of all, eternal life in Him.  All He expects from us in return is a respect for His greatness and the wonderful things He has done.  He also deserves our faithful, wholehearted service in whatever ministry He has called us.

Think about what kind of service you are giving the King today.  Are you the kind of waitress that keeps the water glass full?  Or are you the one who just puts a pitcher on the table for Him to fill up His own cup when it gets empty?  Consider the great things that He has done for you.  The least we can do in return is to serve Him faithfully all the days of our life.

So true! He has already given us the biggest and best gift of all. We should now give Him our whole hearts.

That is an excellent thought. A little convicting to think about me just placing the pitcher on the table and expecting Him to fill it. Thanks for the post. Following now. Found you thought the Faith Barista :)

You are so right. He gave His all while we give a little.. I need to keep on refilling and being refreshed, as we all do.
