'Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.' Colossians 4:2
Devote yourself to being thankful. What does that even mean? I've been hitting copy and paste on the verse for several weeks now and the words just hit me today. Devotion is a strong word. According to the dictionary it means: dedicate; "give thought to"; "give priority to"; "pay attention to". God is commanding us to give priority to being thankful. Wow.
I must confess I do not always do this. I usually give thought to what I don't have or pay attention to the problems in my life. He calls me to dedicate myself to thankfulness. Not just one day a week, but everyday. I should intentionally give thanks daily, in all things. He has commanded it, therefore, I am to follow it. Help me Father to be thankful every minute of every day.

Great post Allison.
Dedicating ourselves to being thankful seems perfectly reasonable when we open ourselves to recognizing the multitude of Blessings God bestows on us each and every day!
Love your list!
Have a Blessed Day, and I hope you're feeling better!!
I've never thought about this verse in this way, I you're right. God wants us to focus, give priority to, being thankful. Living with an attitude of gratitude does change our hearts. Great list, Allison!
Glad to see you are back among the land of the living. :)
Thought provoking scripture--a good one to ponder. Thanks, Allison!

Thanks for the enlightenment on the verse! LOVE IT! Great list!
Thank you Allison for sharing this. I too need to be more thankful for what God has given me. Way too easy to just take it for granted, all what He has given and continues to give.
Thank you for visiting my blog and your comments. May God bless you,
Ken
