Where Does My Help Come From?

What is the best way to overcome your fear? Is to see a shrink? Hide your head in the sand while the world passes you by? Become a recluse? I've tried all of the above, plus some, and none of them seemed to work for me. The best and only way I've found to overcome my fears is Scripture memory. One such passage I've decided to commit to memory over the next six weeks is Psalm 121:
I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the LORD,
the Maker of Heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.

The LORD watches over you—
the LORD is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.

The LORD will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;
the LORD will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.

What words of comfort these are to me. I challenge you to find passages of Scripture that speak to your situation and commit them to memory. This is the way our Father speaks to us and allows His healing to soothe our souls.

Enjoying time away with the family...missing all my bloggy friends--be back next week!!

This is one of my favorite passages. He is the only one who can calm our fears completely.

Our help comes from the Lord alone. He will never leave us or forsake us.

Great post Allison, and certainly a wonderful Psalm to commit to memory!

Over the last six months or so, I think the one that keeps coming to mind most would be Joshua 1:9 : "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."

Such powerful reassurance!

Have a Blessed Day!
