A Word For the New Year

I've been out of the loop a few days as we just got back into town from the Passion 2011 event in Atlanta.  I have NO WORDS (if you can believe it) to describe it as of yet...I have to let it soak in.
Anyway, today over at Faith Barista the Thursday Jam is to share one word God has put on your heart for the next year.  I have tried by hardest to come up with a really great word.  I prayed about it and really thought about what word I will use.  OK...are you ready?  It's a really good one:

MORE

Well, maybe at first glance it's not that great.  But when you unpack it...it looks really nice.  I looked up the definition, of course, and this is what I found--
*a greater amount, quantity, or degree
*something additional or further
*something of greater importance

Out of all the words I could've have chosen, this one encompassed everything I want this year.  I want Jesus.  More of Him.  A further understanding of His love for me.  An additional comprehension of His Word.  I want to count my fellow man as more important than myself.  My eternity is secured, but how about theirs?
In a nutshell, I want a greater amount of Him than I've ever had.  I WANT MORE OF MY JESUS!
I also want to do more of what He has called me to do...whenever I figure that out or He lets me in on it!  But in the mean time I am going to cling to my word of the year and my verses:

'I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than to dwell in the tents of the wicked.'  Psalm 84:10b

'This is what the LORD says:

“Stand at the crossroads and look;
ask for the ancient paths,
ask where the good way is, and walk in it,
and you will find rest for your souls. "  Jeremiah 6:16

Allison, I wish I could have been with you at the Passion event. I love Francis Chan! My word for this year is transformation. I want God to completely change me from the inside out.
Many blessings!

Just tweeted this, Allison! Loved how you took a second and deeper look.. not just at first glance. Now, we've got a shot of your faith journey, too! More. Of Him. Yum.

More was my eldest's first word. He's 16 now, so quite a while ago, but I still remember. He used it to mean "drink", as when he finished a drink we'd say "do you want some more" so he figured an empty cup and the word more would be enough to get him a drink even if he hadn't just had one.

Allison, the Passion Event looked remarkable, and I can't wait to hear your take on it.

As for your word selection, what a marvelous choice! They say in many cases that "less is more", but not so with God! The more we strive to know Him and walk in Christ's example, the more we can serve him during our time here.

Thank you for a wonderful post, and have a Blessed Day!

I am with ya on "more." More of God...more. I love the Psalm verse. I too would rather be standing at the door or washing feet if it means I can be near to my Jesus. P.S. David Platt is my brothers pastor in Bham! He is so lucky!! Having him and Francis Chan in the same building is totally awesome. I am so jealous (I mean that in a good way!;)

This brings to mind John 3:30---He must increase; I must decrease.

Makes me think of my favorite verses, I've strived towards for years... Philippians 3:7-11... it's a lot to strive for and always "more" to reach towards in "knowing Christ".

Blessings!
