Deuteronomy 6:5
My preacher issued a challenge (well, kinda) Sunday and I'd like to extend the same one to you today.
Do you truly love the Lord with everything you've got? Do you love Him more than your hubby and kids? What about that dream job, new car, new home? I must confess that some days I do, but on other days it is a struggle for me. I can see my family, touch my possessions, and put my feet inside my home. I can't see God, nor can I reach out and physically touch Him. That makes the command above hard to do.
But we know that the Christian life isn't just a ticket to the easy life. He said that we would have trouble. One of mine is putting Him above all else. I have made a commitment in my heart to seek to place Him in front of everything else daily. Before my feet hit the floor in the morning I am praying that He'll be my number one priority that day. Not only Him, but the things that He'd have me to do for His kingdom. His agenda, not mine, is the plan for the day.
So, the challenge is this--put Him #1 for one week. Seek only His approval and His will. Not yours or someone else's. See what happens. Love Him with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. I think He'll show up for us in ways we never expected.

Great challenge for us, Allison. Thanks!
Great challenge! I'm in!
Great challenge, Allison! God has been dealing with me about seeking only His approval. All that matters is that God is pleased with me. I will take this challenge. :)
Yes! I am like Lisa, I have to be cautious all the time that I'm not seeking the approval of man... all I need is God's approval. Challenge accepted!
What a convicting and wonderful challenge Allison... Count me in as well!
Have a Blessed Day!
Hi Allison,
Thank you for this challange. We have our eyes on the things of this world too much and it makes putting God first difficult. But when we do, we experience victory.
Blessings,
Ken
You're right - it has to be done daily. It's not a 1-time shot. Each moment of each day is a constant striving to keep Him first above all else. It IS hard, but for good reason; to keep us constantly seeking Him!
Thanks for the great post :)
